Watson - Field Reporting Suite

The Watson Field Reporting Suite streamlines the process of completing field reports and improves overall report quality. Its unparalleled user-friendly interface and artificial intelligence ensures that users can navigate and complete reports without a large investment in training or support.

Watson employs leading-edge technology to provide a dual-platform application for both Windows and Windows Mobile (Pocket PC), resulting in parallel performance, security and design.

Suite Features

Each client application in the Watson suite contains the following features:

  • NCIC, state and local queries
  • Off-line data entry
  • Full client-side validation (on or off-line)
  • Automated application updates
  • Encrypted communication
  • Encrypted local data storage
  • Multi-user capabilities (per device)
  • Automated importing of data to record management systems
  • Web-based administrative tools
  • Context-sensitive help
DMV/NLETS/NCIC

The Watson suite uses multiple data sources to retrieve details about people, vehicles and weapons. Any of these reportable items can be queried against local, state or national databases (e.g. DMV/NLETS/NCIC). When an officer performs a query using a driver’s license or social security number, Watson automatically checks NCIC for warrants.

To reduce the amount of manual entry, demographic results from an inquiry can be utilized within a report, including the generation of arrest tickets from warrants. When integrated with image databases, Watson also returns mug-shots along with person results to help in identification. In addition to returning vehicle status, Watson provides the vehicle’s license tag status (e.g. stolen, invalid, expired etc.) when integrated with vehicle registration databases.
Import/Export
DataDriven works with other software vendors to ensure data compatibility between products. With all Watson products, automatic exports occur at specified intervals to guarantee that data collected from the field is available as soon as possible. DataDriven imports items such as officer lists, local warrants, scoff-law violations, and vehicle registration to quickly provide the officer with the best data available. By maintaining these supporting elements, the scheduled/non-scheduled downtime of supporting systems does not impact Watson users.
Client Updates
Watson utilizes multiple techniques to keep applications up to date. Minor updates are pushed to the client through the course of normal activity. Major updates, such as replacing supporting files or executables, are accomplished with "Watson Update", an automatic update utility that can replace the complete application from the field. Both of these processes allow the application to be modified without technical assistance.
Administrative Tools
The Watson suite includes browser-based administrative tools to manage security, reporting, messaging and other functions over the local area network. The security application administrates the assignment of officers to a device, password changes, and the disabling/enabling of users and devices. In addition, reports are available to allow administrators to monitor the use of each application.
Client Backup/Recovery
Handheld devices, unlike personal computers, have power management issues due to their "always on" state and their use of RAM for storage. Because of the handheld’s reliance on volatile memory, DataDriven has integrated an automatic backup and recovery system into the Watson suite. This automatic process ensures that field data is not lost due to power failure or damage.
